Top 10 Santorum Quotes (Ammunition In Case You Can’t Remember Why He’s Vile)

Rick SantorumI’ll skip the references to sexual aftermath (NSFW) which are most commonly associated with Senator Santorum. His own words are filthy enough. (In case you’re wondering why Santorum matters, he was within 8 votes of winning the Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus, which gives him a platform for hate he hasn’t had since he spoke on the floor of the U.S. Senate). Without further ado, here is the man in his own words. Warning: his sentiments on contraception, abortion, Islam, women, China, gay families, and the Catholic Church’s sex abuse scandal may be offensive or just terrifying from a prominent national candidate for President.

  1. “One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be. [Sex] is supposed to be within marriage. It’s supposed to be for purposes that are yes, conjugal…but also procreative. That’s the perfect way that a sexual union should happen…This is special and it needs to be seen as special.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  2. “There are no Palestinians. All the people who live in the West Bank are Israelis. There are no Palestinians. This is Israeli land.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  3. “The idea that the Crusades and the fight of Christendom against Islam is somehow an aggression on our part is absolutely anti-historical. And that is what the perception is by the American Left who hates Christendom. … What I’m talking about is onward American soldiers. What we’re talking about are core American values.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  4. “Does anybody know when the high-water mark of Islam was? September the 11th, 1683,”–Senator Rick Santorum
  5. “In far too many families with young children, both parents are working, when, if they really took an honest look at the budget, they might find they don’t both need to. … What happened in America so that mothers and fathers who leave their children in the care of someone else — or worse yet, home alone after school between three and six in the afternoon — find themselves more affirmed by society? Here, we can thank the influence of radical feminism.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  6. “We have made the decision that the best way to raise a family is with a man and a woman.” –Senator Rick Santorum
  7. “I believe that any doctor that performs an abortion, I would advocate that any doctor that performs an abortion, should be criminally charged for doing so.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  8. “[Discussing sexual abuse of youths and minors by priests in the Catholic Church] In this case, what we’re talking about, basically, is priests who were having sexual relations with post-pubescent men. We’re not talking about priests with 3-year-olds, or 5-year-olds. We’re talking about a basic homosexual relationship. Which, again, according to the world view sense is a a perfectly fine relationship as long as it’s consensual between people. If you view the world that way, and you say that’s fine, you would assume that you would see more of it.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  9. “I don’t want to go to a trade war, I want to beat China. I want to go to war with China and make America the most attractive place in the world to do business.”–Senator Rick Santorum
  10. “If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything… In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.”–Senator Rick Santorum
If you’re curious about any of my sources, just google the quotes. I tried to make sure each appeared in the same form on 2 or 3 sites, because these things tend to morph, but if you have any corrections please comment.

What should be without controversy is that if elected President Senator Rick Santorum would destroy gay families, seize women’s right to abortion access, remove citizens’ access to contraception where he could and shame those of us who use it (that would be 99% of women in the U.S.). He’s not presidential material, too hateful for government service (which is why he lost his Pennsylvania Senate seat by 18 points) and casually dismissive of  blended, single-parent, and non-traditional families which make up the vast majority of American families.
