Did I mention I’m in Muscat?

I’m not sure if I did. I’m taking the bus from Dubai to Oman, because that way I get where I’m going slow enough to appreciate the desert and Oman’s incredible mountains:

Here’s Oman, if you forgot where it is:

Oman has been my major planned destination this entire semester. My top 3 reasons why I am so desperate to get to Oman:

  1. The government supports national crafts intensely and has some of the best in the region.
  2. They have have an archeologically documented, long, diverse history as farmers, merchants and rulers of most of the coast of East Africa.
  3. They have wild mountains.

Let’s see if Oman rocks as much as I think it will.

Inspirational Quote:

“A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?”–Kahlil Gibran

  1. It sounds like a wonderful trip! I’m printing maps of the places you go – helps me visualize what you may see. Does Oman support the arts as well as the crafts? Send photos if you can!
