At the Meeting of the Minds research symposium p4 (and I) won an award from the Center for Arts in Society. It is so cool! I gave an oral presentation on p4 (motivation, implementation, results) and the judges really liked it, and so they awarded me one of two prizes given out by the Center for Arts and Society.
I used no PowerPoint or video, I just passed around my Complete Works of William Shakespeare (with sonnets bookmarked), my friend’s copy of The Happy Prince and Collected Works, and my Norton Anthology of American Literature (with Frost and Eliot poems bookmarked). I started by asking everyone to close their eyes and reading them part of “Mending Wall” by Robert Frost. I talked about my own experiences with literature read aloud, then moved on to how I recruited and recorded, then what my results were. I have applied to have this work included at the Hopper Conference in the form of a poster. Hopefully it will get in, so I can keep practicing my talk!
UPDATE: my poster was accepted! Horray! I am super excited.
It was totally cool to see what other kinds of research other people were doing. More later!

Congrats on your award!! I don’t know if you remember me, but I met you outside Allegheny when you were interviewing everyone a few weeks ago. Have you written your paper yet? I would love to read it when it’s finished! Have a wonderful summer!
