My 3 Big Ideas That I Can Do Nothing About

Sometimes, when I’m wool gathering while cooking or writing a paper in some other subject, I’ll get a big idea that I can do nothing about. These ideas are usually so big, they tend to be more thought-experiments than police changes I could implement by myself (even if I were in a position now to personally effect U.S. foreign policy). So, I’m throwing them out to the universe:

Turkey should become Iran’s friend and then influence Iran against obtaining nuclear weapons. As the two non-Arab, large, former empires, Turkey and Iran could have a beautiful friendship. I guess I did do something about this–I wrote a paper and posted it here.

Contraceptives in body lotion. They now come in sprays, and since they can be taken topically, that means they might be able to be mixed into a body lotion. Just think, moisturize and control your fertility all at the same time. If the dosages could be got perfectly right, it would make contraception an even more convenient part of the morning routine for women who could afford it.

Small arms should follow planned obsolescence. In the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there are stories and more stories about U.S. supplied arms being used again U.S. troops. If small arms, like cell-phones and laptops*, were designed to become obsolete within a few years, we would not have this specific problem. The essential problem is, weapons sold to support a cause often outlive that cause, but continue to be used in the country they are in.

*Some authors argue that products which get better over time because of software updates are killing planed obsolescence.

Your words are the greatest power you have.
The words you choose and their use establish the life you experience.

  1. I think it has to do with my crazy mix of interests, and that I gave myself time for wool-gathering over the weekend. Thanks for asking!
