Cool Project on YouTube

This is a cross post from the p4 (Posner Poetry and Prose Project) blog, I promise feelingelephants original content tomorrow!

In searching to see what Shakespeare poems are well covered on YouTube, I ran across this project by Shakespearecowboy: The 116 Project. As far as I can tell this cool dude wanders around with a minicam and a beat up book of sonnets and asks random people to read Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare:

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Here is my favorite version:

This is a different approach than p4 (The Posner Poetry and Prose Project), but a throughly admirable one. Instead of working to present a group of performers reading a variety of works, Shakespearecowboy takes a popular sonnet and records a variety of performers reading the same sonnet. It is a lovely effect.
