Summary: If only 2% of the 20,000 ads posted in Craigslist’s Adult Services section a day in summer 2010 were for sex with minors, Craigslist profits from slavery topped a million dollars a year. Any minor in commercial sex is a sex trafficking victim; there are between 100,000 and 300,000 children sold for sex a year in the U.S. Working with Polaris Project, a DC organization combating trafficking, we designed a tool to count Adult Services posts in every city in America. In fall 2010, the anti-trafficking movement (supported by our statistics) contributed to Craigslist shutting down their Adult Services section.
