Letter-Writing #EndSexTraffickinginPGH Campaign Nets 300+ Letters

A group of us who want to end sex trafficking in Pittsburgh have been writing letters to city council in support of an ordinance designed to regulate massage parlors. We’ve received support from three campuses and a dozen student organizations. Our goal is to send 500 letters in support of an ordinance regulating massage parlors–and as of right now, we are at over 300 letters.

On Wednesday, we mailed 250 letters to city council. With 3-4 weeks to go before City Council votes on the ordinance. Of a goal of 500.

Amnesty and IJM are sponsoring this Wednesday’s letter-writing day from 11:30am – 3:30pm in the UC. Please come by if you are in Pittsburgh have time to would like to write a few more letters.

This Wednesday, we will start including the mayor in our letter-writing campaign. Wish us luck!

Inspirational Quote:

“Agitators are a set of interfering, meddling people, who come down to some perfectly contented class of the community and sow the seeds of discontent amongst them. That is the reason why agitators are so absolutely necessary. Without them, in our incomplete state, there would be no advance towards civilisation.”–Oscar Wilde

  1. That’s a personal and moral question. Everything about it is controversial. Is it prostitution or sex work? Can you be sex-positive and still dislike sex work? Is it always, sometimes, or never exploitative? What do you think?
