Strangely Unironic Disney FanVid

I love “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” as much as the next karate/singing geek. But to me, it’s always been ironic–it’s a theme song of manliness for a woman who’s pretending to be a man and doing an admirable job of being a soldier. But some people see it as a straight-forward anthem of manliness:

Some sample YouTube comments:

1958justiceforall: “My sons training to be a royal marines commando, (I was once a marine) I tell him tell him to listen to this song whenever he feels like quiting training :)”

Snocat115: “That’s awesome! This is definitely underrated for such an inspiring song. Even if it is Disney, its some pretty damn tough stuff!”

Just goes to show the wide range of values and experiences music can elicit.
