Perhaps 42 is the answer? And my first song!

Perhaps 42, if not the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, is the right length of copyright? It was for 78 years in the United States. Below is a quick video that’s been bouncing around my head.

The song and video are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 Generic License.

The background music is a song I started singing last January. As much as anything is anyone’s own work, it is mine. But the rhythms came from a lifetime of singing folk music, and the poetry (as it is) from loving reading. The feelings came from planning to spend a semester 7000 miles away from my fiance

I am sure the video looks idealistic and silly, and it is. But I truly believe the world would be a better place for artists if copyright was shorter.

Maybe 42 years is the answer.

Inspirational Quote:

“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up.”–Anne Lamott
