Three Effective Ad Campaigns

Since I am in the Public Outreach and Communications department, I have been paying more attention to what ads work and don’t work for me. The following are ads I have not only enjoyed, but have gone so far as to share with friends.

  1. I was watching Lie to Me and saw this ad. Though I’m not sure what they’re trying to sell birth-control-wise, I am rather attached to the metaphor that gave birth to the name of my blog.
  2. I have only played with the Adobe suite lightly, but this makes me want to dig in more. This is an incredible video from Adobe. I’m not even going to spoil it–just watch to the end:
  3. I showed this video to a group of little girls I performed in the musical with in Qatar because they were watching a bunch of pretty older girls complain about their weight and slather on make-up before leaving the dressing room. I thought it would have a stronger impact on them than another lecture about self-esteem and the beauty industry:

Now my job is to see if I can create the same interest in my viewers as these marketers have created in me.

Inspirational Quote:

“Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars… and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful.  Everything is simply happy.  Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance.  Look at the flowers – for no reason.  It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are.”–Osho
