What I am Reading Right Now

Sometimes it is only when I slap my pile of reading on the table to start slogging through it when I get home, I realize how broad my interests are. To share this revelation, here is what I read today:

  1. Al-Kitaab fii Ta’allum al-‘Arabiyya with DVD, Kristen Brustad, Mahmoud Al-Batal, and Abbas Al-Tonsi (my Arabic textbook)
  2. “I am Prepared to Die”, Nelson Mandela
  3. About 50 pages from”Nuclear Energy: Balancing Benefits and Risks”, Charles D. Ferguson
  4. “Pulling the Serpent’s Tail”, a chapter from It’s our turn to eat: the story of a Kenyan whistle-blower, Michela Wrong
  5. About 50 pages from “Nuclear Energy: Principals, Practices and Prospects”, David Bodanky
  6. “Africa’s Revolutionary Deficit”, Jeremy M. Weinstein
  7. xkcd
  8. Relevant History (blog), Alex Soojung-Kim Pang (one of the 3 blogs I check most days)
  9. The Economist, December 19th-January 1st 2009 (I keep the older copies spread around the apartment to catch articles I don’t see on my first pass through; also for-fun reading)
  10. Zodiac, by Neal Stephenson (my for-fun reading)

Inspirational Quote:

“A good book should leave you… slightly exhausted at the end.  You live several lives while reading it.” -William Styron, interview, Writers at Work, 1958
