Dubai is designed to overwhelm, to stupefy, to enrapture in its excessive glory. Massive consumerism isn’t really my scene, so why go to Dubai?
I’m going because a friend is going, but more importantly, because Dubai is so starkly different from everything else I’ve seen and heard about the Gulf, and this makes me curious. I will probably skirt the malls to chill in the souqs, dip into fashion week but stay at the beach longer.
I’m excited, but not for the shopping. More soon!
